Surgical and non-surgical recovery
Achilles ruptures are treated either surgically or non-surgically (in a boot or cast) — and both routes need careful rehab:
- Early — protect healing and manage the boot and weight-bearing stages
- Mid — restore movement and start rebuilding calf strength
- Late — return to walking, then running and higher-impact activity, typically around 9–12 months
Why calf strength matters
The calf and Achilles are notoriously slow to fully recover, and lingering weakness is common — often long after the boot comes off. Our programme prioritises rebuilding genuine strength and power, not simply getting you walking again.
Do I need surgery for an Achilles rupture?
How soon can I walk normally after meniscus surgery?
That's a decision for your consultant. We rehabilitate both surgical and non-surgical cases.
How long until I can run again?
Return to running is typically around 9–12 months, and we progress you on capability, not just time elapsed.
Can you help an old Achilles injury that never fully recovered?
Yes — rebuilding strength and function is exactly what we do.
