ACL Reconstruction Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction is what determines how well — and how safely — you get back to sport. A well-structured programme rebuilds strength, control and confidence in stages, and lowers the risk of re-injury. At Body Repair Clinic we deliver evidence-based ACL rehab guided by your surgeon's protocol and your own progress.

Why ACL rehab is so important
The ACL is a key stabiliser of the knee. After reconstruction, the graft needs time to heal and the muscles around the knee must be retrained. Returning to sport too soon — or without the right strength and control — is a leading cause of re-rupture. Our programme is built around safe, measurable progression rather than guesswork.
Our phased approach
We follow a phased pathway aligned with current best practice:
- Early phase — protect the graft, restore range of movement, settle swelling and reactivate the muscles
- Mid phase — rebuild strength, balance and control
- Late phase — power, agility and sport-specific movement
- Return to sport — objective testing before you go back, typically around 9–12 months, not just a date on the calendar
Return-to-sport testing
We use objective measures — strength, hop tests and movement quality — alongside the ACL-RSI questionnaire to gauge your psychological readiness to return to sport. You go back when you’re genuinely ready, not simply when enough time has passed.
